Foundations

Foundations are, broadly speaking, neither companies nor trusts, but can bear some of the hallmarks of both. Consequently, they have developed as an alternative solution for wealth structuring purposes, depending upon the circumstances of the family concerned. Instead of a board of directors found with a company, or a trustee of a trust, foundations are typically governed by a ‘council’.
